Career Path

After a few years of working in nutrition-related media for moguls such as Joy Bauer and magazines such as Woman’s Day and Good Housekeeping, I felt that my approach to nutrition education would be more effective if I could work one-on-one with people facing challenges requiring nutrition and diet changes. My journey brought me to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) where I began to work with patients undergoing bone marrow transplant needing extensive support, both in the form of educating on what to eat to keep them safe while immosuppressed, and motivating them to continue eating when they were in pain or feeling exhausted.

After nearly 4 years in the acute oncology setting, an opportunity landed me at a new MSK campus which has allowed me to take on outpatient care, while continuing to grow my inpatient skills on a small 16 bed unit, specializing in hepatopancreatobiliary and thoracic Interventional radiology procedures and lymphoma chemotherapy visits.

My supervisors have supported my interest in Clinical Nutrition Informatics by allowing me to take the lead in many of the informatics and technology-centric projects within our department. I am most interested in EMR improvements and building new elements within ClinDoc that better support the work of dietitians. I work with IT teams to create solutions that elevate both the role of the dietitian and our provision of nutrition care at MSK. I also enjoy teaching my fellow dietitians how to optimize their time using technology and functions within the EMR. Because the Covid-19 pandemic has introduced many on our team to remote work, there is no better to time capitalize on all that technology offers us in our work in healthcare.
