Career Path

My path to Clinical Informatics was a bit circuitous but definitely facilitated by a commitment to lifelong learning and a passion for efficiency. My early experience as a data reporter of health care priorities and disparities exposed me to how patient data was captured for agency reports. When EHR was deployed in the Great Plains Area in 2006, I was happy to be appointed to lead the effort on behalf of Winnebago Hospital and to later assume the lead role for North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska. Today, my role reaches well beyond nutrition and includes coordination of ancillary patient care services of clinics, emergency rooms, inpatient, and community health settings. I am currently working with a dietitian team to implement IDDSI guidelines, inpatient RDN nutrition-related ordering privileges, and RDN telehealth services for inpatient nutrition services.
