Career Path

Involvement in a foodservice software implementation at the hospital where I was working sparked an interest in how technology can enhance healthcare. When I changed locations, I also applied for a job managing software implementation projects. The job requirements included the ability to teach adult learners and an understanding of foodservice environments - years as a clinical dietitian had prepared me well. When I transitioned from implementation to development, I pursued more informatics-focused education including the National Library of Medicine course and the AMIA 10x10. My experience in clinical nutrition and foodservice is also essential as it allows me to bring the voice of the customer to the team.

Education

  • AMIA 10x10 Healthcare Interface Design, UT Health
  • Biomedical Informatics Course, National Library of Medicine
  • Dietetic Internship, Fresno State
  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
